Note Ref to the Revolt of Madog ap Llywelyn and the connection with Penmachno, on my recent trip around parts of Cymru, I took photos in connection with this story at Caernarfon and at Morlais Castle near Merthyr Tudful. In due course I will be doing a post on this over on I'R Gad Welsh Battlefield Campaign Blog asap, so info is out there for those patriots who may wish to commemorate this major post 1282 revolt against English Rule. Note this is not just another 'Welsh Medieval Rebellion' but may be considered very much our first 'Popular Revolt' as well as clearly an Anti - Colonial Rebellion thus Welsh Socialists out there it's alright to be interested and participate in commemorations with Red Flags and Pitchfork Flags. I guess White Eagle Cross Flags would be acceptable but in the main Baneri Llywelyn III and Glyndwr more to fore, I guess, Lets not get our 'knickers in a twist' over flags lads!
Have placed this photo report here as it suits, did the tour by car but it could be a two day Glyndwr Summer Ramble for eager walkers into our past, to really get the full sight, feel, sound and smell of this dramatic and in parts dangerous coutryside if travelling by Car up the narrow road under Pen y Bedw to the Migneint (B4407). Very narrow and little passing space and 'nutters' driving fast down ward towards you. However, up on the Migneint, one hell of view of all around Mountain Roof Tops of this region of Cymru as you will see from few photos below as we headed for Ysbyty Ifan. This country is terrific, the more you see the more you want to see, but shame about the rain and mists most of the time. Never mind loads of history all over the place, really interesting location. I will go back!
